Large Brown Stag Beetle found on Mountain Top. Was laying stunned on ground. Was likely tossed from tree by rival during mating season.



Image won 1st place in North Carolina Wildlife Photo contest, and placed as a finalist in 17th Appalachian Mountain Photography contest. He was even featured in Blue Ridge Country Photo Essay: Critters, Creatures and Other Wild Things. So hes pretty famous, he just doesnt know it.



Would really like to find another one of these guys but they are rare.

Thanks man he was a cool little guy. Brought him home fed him peaches and rotten tree bark.
