Eastern Towhee (Adult Female) perched on branch. The Eastern Towhee is of the Sparrow family. Eastern Towhees build there nest on the ground and can often be seen hoping around on the ground. In fact they spend so much time on the ground you may think they are injured. This bird is a large sparrow at around 7 or 8 inches tall when an adult.
