Made my annual hike up Roan Mountain to check out the blooms of the Catawba Rhododendrons and Blaze Azaleas. The blooms were late this year and I went toward the end of the bloom as weather had not been good early on.

Luck wasn't with me on this day. The winds were very high making non-blurring images very difficult. To compensate I had to use very high ISOs to get a maximum shutter speed of 1/200th sec. When the wind subsided a bit, it seemed to be able to freeze the blowing bushes. Light was my next issue. It was very harsh when the sun was out making exposures difficult. Seemed like most of my buddies were having similar issues this year.

But I was happy to run into my photo friend, Richard Hill, once again on Jane Bald. We met there last year as well. Check his photos out. He was able to get some very good photos during his many visits.

Roan Mountain is a very special place this time of year. If you've never been and you live in the area, you owe it to yourself to get out there. The scenery is spectacular.
