Going back to mid-October here when my wife and I did a drive in the Cashiers / Highlands area of western North Carolina. Conditions at were so perfect on this day, i.e., just finished raining, autumn colors were peaking and water flow was great. Sometimes you just get lucky. Got many satisfying photos from this day.

This is Whitewater Falls. One of the best is the state, especially during autumn. I remember being entranced by this waterfall before we retired to NC - Kevin Adams had put Whitewater on the cover of his waterfall guide. I couldn't wait to see it for the first time. It didn't disappoint me.

I shot this with my relatively new 80-400mm lens. I don't use it very often but it came in handy for this image.

This is a great area to visit for waterfall hunters. There are so many gorgeous waterfalls to visit in such a tight area. Many are very easy to get to since they don't require a difficult hike.

Nikon D850, Nikkor 80-400mm f/4, ISO 64, 80mm, 1/6 sec, f/14
