Visited another new waterfall for me along with a good friend today, Big Laurel Falls. I was pleasantly surprised. It was really nice. Water level was pretty high after recent rains but there was still enough "personality" in the flow to make it look good with a long exposure.
This was my first outing in three weeks after I tweaked my knee during my last hike. While still not great, this was a great waterfall to try as it was a relatively short easy hike, about 1/2 mile. Another nice feature of the falls is that the canopy is pretty much closed. If you got here early in the morning, even on a sunny day, you'd have until 10:30 or so before it would impact the falls.
Big Laurel is located just west of Franklin, NC off US 64. Get directions from Google.
