ok- I'm terrible at titles about 90% of the time. But I'd named this image something like that to enter it in a contest.
Nothing about this image screamed "winner winner chicken dinner" but I really loved it and despite everyone I know saying 'well, it's okay, but...' I entered it anyway. I agree, there's no amazing foreground drawing you in, no incredible sky, no creative never-before-seen composition, the subject is just a line of trees. Trees and snow, that's it. But for me, it had all the feels so I trusted my instinct and had it printed to enter it. Good thing too, cause this one ended up third in the category...which completed my first "sweep" in a contest, having also placed first and second with other images.
Story behind the image is pretty boring- went up on the mountain to grab some snowy landscapes. See- I'm originally from Texas and was almost 30 years old before I really saw snow. Oh, we'd have flurries, and a dusting of snow would shut the state down for 3 days. But yeah, I'm kind of obsessed with it now. I absolutely love to photograph snow. This day, of course I saw plenty of snow, plenty of wind, and single digit temps...well worth the windburnt face I sported for the next few days.

Wow this is original. This would look really really good in a magazine 2 page spread for a winter issue.
